Girl in hospital after falling into the sea from rocks

A girl was taken to hospital after she fell from rocks into the sea on the Aberdeenshire coast.

The incident happened at Gardenstown on Sunday evening.

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) said the youngster was taken ashore by a rescue team.

No details of the girl's condition have been released.

The MCA said in a statement: "Macduff Coastguard Rescue Team assisted a girl into the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service after she was reported to have fallen at Gardenstown at about 19:35 on 12 July."

The Scottish Ambulance Service said: "We received a call on Sunday to attend an incident in Gardenstown.

"We dispatched one ambulance to the scene and transported one female patient to the Royal Aberdeen Children's Hospital."
