Three arrests on suspicion of attempted murder
GoogleThree people, including two teenagers, have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after an incident believed to have involved a knife.
Emergency services attended Newcastle city centre shortly after midnight following a report of an altercation in the Blackett Street and John Dobson Street areas involving a total of four people.
Northumbria Police said a 20-year-old man and two boys, aged 16 and 17, were taken to hospital with injuries "consistent with having been caused by a bladed article".
The 20-year-old and the 16-year-old have been arrested, along with a different 17-year-old boy.
Their injuries are not thought to be life threatening, the force said, adding all those involved were believed to be known to each other.
Cordons have been removed in the city centre, although there will be an increased number of officers in the area in an attempt to provide reassurance, police added.
