Seaside Ferris wheel gets another spin

A Ferris wheel that was set up temporarily in a seaside town last year has returned permanently.

The wheel in Felixstowe has been given a permanent location and is now being assembled.

It will operate between February and October.

The wheel is 35m (115ft) high and can accommodate 144 people in 24 gondolas.

The attraction appeared last summer opposite Mannings Amusements in Felixstowe, Suffolk.

It was erected in time for the Love Felixstowe Festival and the visit of the Tour of Britain cycle race in September.

The Observation Attractions Company then applied to East Suffolk Council's planning committee for permission to install it permanently.

Although there was a small number of objections, the go-ahead was given unanimously by the committee.

Posting a picture of the attraction on its Facebook page, the tourism organisation Visit Felixstowe quipped "it's wheely here!"
