Rail services disrupted by electricity fault

An electricity supply failure has caused major disruption to rail services.

The fault occurred in Welwyn Garden City and is causing problems for services running between London's Finsbury Park and Stevenage.

LNER services between London King's Cross and Peterborough, as well as Thameslink and Great Northern services, are subject to delays and cancellations.

Network Rail and electricity suppliers are dealing with the fault, and disruption is expected until 12:00 BST.

LNER customers are advised to check if their tickets are valid on other services. A full list is available on its website.

National Rail said services that run between King's Lynn and London King's Cross would run between King's Lynn and Cambridge only.

Alternative trains to Cambridge are available from Ely.

There will also be a reduced Great Northern service between Cambridge and London but tickets from Cambridge will be accepted on Thameslink services to London St Pancras International, Great Northern services to London King's Cross, and Greater Anglia services to London Liverpool Street.

Great Northern will be operating a reduced service at peak times from Peterborough to London.

There will also be a reduced peak-time service between Hertford North and Moorgate, National Rail said.
