Immigration arrests after people come off boat

Ten people have been arrested after a number of individuals were reported coming off a small powerboat at a harbour in Cornwall, getting in a van and then leaving the area.

A Home Office spokesperson said police responded quickly to an "isolated and rare" incident at Mylor Harbour, near Falmouth, on Sunday morning at about 03:00 BST.

It confirmed 10 individuals were arrested and another individual, understood to be under 18, was referred to social services.

Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed officers had arrested two Albanian nationals on suspicion of immigration offences. Officers added that Immigration Enforcement was leading the investigation.

The Home Office said the clandestine entry did not involve a small inflatable boat carrying a large number of migrants, but a small powerboat carrying a small number of people.
