Tip closed after suspected explosive found

A tip has been forced to close after a suspected explosive device was found at the site.

Dorset Police said it was alerted to a suspected ordnance device at Dorchester Household Recycling Centre on St Georges Road just before 11:00 BST.

The force said a cordon has been put in place pending the arrival of Explosive Ordnance Disposal experts.

Officers have advised members of the public to avoid the area and Dorset Council has advised residents to use an alternative site or visit the tip on another day.
