More than 100 students from 10 Peterborough schools came together to mark Earth Day by taking part in a series of environmental workshops.

The events, held at the Green Backyard in Oundle Road and the city council's offices in Fletton Quays, gave students the opportunity to discuss how communities and councils can work together to protect the environment.

Workshops were delivered by Project Abundance, Where the Wild Ones Learn, Peterborough Environment City Trust (PECT), Refill Revolution and the council's Wildlife officers.

The sessions highlighted the role young people can play in building a greener future, and students learned about sustainability, reducing waste, biodiversity, and reuse.

Charlotte Palmer, Peterborough's director for environment and climate change, said: "The workshops and summit were fantastic occasions which our officers thoroughly enjoyed, and we had lots of positive feedback from the pupils who took part.

"We would like to thank all participating schools and partners for their continued commitment to environmental education and for inspiring the next generation to care for the planet."
