Riders using the Voi app will be able to access 350 dockless electric bikes across the city

The first of Aberdeen's new e-bike rental bikes have been made available to users in the city.

A total of 350 cycles are being offered by the operators Voi.

Two models of electric bike are being rolled out, with the first delivery taking to the streets on Wednesday.

Users hire them on a pay-as-you-go basis via a phone app. They have to be picked up and left in a designated parking bay, of which several have been created around the city, in a bid to crack down on the loss and vandalism of the bikes.

Voi already operates in cities including Edinburgh and Glasgow.

Aberdeen's previous e-bike scheme, operated by the Big Issue Group and Sharebike, began in 2022 but was scrapped in 2024.

It suffered problems attracting funding as well as vandalism.

BIG said that meant the project was "no longer financially viable" and the plug was pulled with three members of staff affected.
