A town has turned out in force to support a 19-year-old film-maker ahead of his new film being released on a major streaming platform.

Rupert Harold from Cromer in Norfolk has made his second feature film and has set his sights on becoming the youngest director to win an Oscar.

His film, Crecista, is a rags to riches story filmed across locations in Norfolk, Lake Como, Milan and Naples and features helicopters, sports cars and a yacht, all within a £2,000 budget. The film will be streamed on Amazon Prime.

He said: "The film was received so well I felt such an overwhelming feeling of support and just a great community feel... I don't think it could have gone better."

The red carpet was rolled out on Cromer Pier on Tuesday for a debut screening of the film ahead of its release on Saturday.

He said: "The premiere was absolutely amazing, we had about 400 people there.

"We had supercars, a Ferrari, a Porsche, Rolls Royce and a Corvette there which was crazy."

Crecista, follows a struggling British man who builds a fortune by illegally selling classified government information.

Harold said Cromer Pier features in the film as does central Norwich.

He added: "We also have Blakeney, we have some of the marshes and various shots in Sheringham and we have Sheringham Little Theatre there as well."

Harold said the budget was £2,000 and he was able to call in favours

Despite working with a budget of just £2,000, Harold contacted people who were kind enough to let him use helicopters, fancy cars, a yacht club and hotel for filming.

Harold started film-making at eight years old and, after getting in contact with Amazon when he was 15, his first feature film Dengard was released when he was 17.

Harold said he was inspired by films including the 1990 film GoodFellas starring Robert De Niro and directed by Martin Scorsese.

The film was made in various locations across Norfolk and also in Lake Como, Milan and Naples

He said: "Film-making is so unique because you are able to transport someone into a world you have created for that set amount of time so I'm super excited to see what people think of the story.

"My ambition has always been to win an Oscar for the youngest director. When I was 17, for my last film I stated that I'm going to win an Oscar at 27."

Off the back of filming across Europe, Harold has big plans to take his third feature film to Montana in the United States.

"We're really excited for that and kind of hoping to make a break into Hollywood from the UK and obviously from Norfolk," he said.
