A body has been found following a fire at a property in Batley last weekend, police said.

West Yorkshire Police said the body, which has not been formally identified, was discovered following a large blaze at a building on the corner of Warwick Road and Mount Street, which was reported at about 03:00 BST on Saturday.

The cause of the fire has not yet been established.

Anyone with information or dashcam footage which could assist the investigation has been asked to come forward.

Det Ch Insp James Entwistle said: "I understand this development will be concerning for local residents and the wider community.

"I would like to reassure the public that a dedicated team of officers and specialist investigators are working diligently to establish the full circumstances surrounding the fire and determine exactly what has taken place."
