Homes affected after water pipe burst in field

A number of properties in Derbyshire have had interruptions to their water supply due to a burst pipe.

Severn Trent said they were notified of a problem in the Grassmoor area near Chesterfield early on Saturday morning.

Residents took to social media to report taps running dry, low pressure and brown water in the town of Grassmoor and nearby Tupton and pictures from the scene showed water running from a field into North Wingfield Road.

Severn Trent apologised for the problems and said they had brought tankers in to maintain most supplies but while they initially said they hoped to have the problems fully fixed by 12:00 BST, this was later revised to 17:00.

A Severn Trent spokesperson said: "We're sorry for the disruption caused by one of our larger pipes bursting this morning.

"While supplies returned quickly for most customers, we know there is a small number of properties (15 ) still experiencing lower pressure or no water.

"This is a complex fix, but we are continuing to move water around our network and use tankers to bring in water to the area, and expect their water to be back on shortly.

"We'd like to thank the local community for their patience as we make these emergency repairs."
