Comedian confident of double world records for microphone runs
Dan HudsonA stand-up comedian says he is confident he has a second world record as he aims to have his attempt verified for running the fastest half marathon while dressed as a microphone.
Dan Hudson took on the 13.1-mile (21km) race in the unusual costume on Sunday.
The comedian, from Solihull, who already holds the record for the fastest marathon by a man while dressed as a microphone, finished the Solihull Half Marathon in one hour and 48 minutes.
Despite high temperatures and the cumbersome costume, he said he had finished the race faster than he expected.
"I actually had the world record for the fastest marathon dressed as a microphone, and I had to take that off someone as well," he joked.
"I saw the Solihull Half Marathon in the calendar [and] I just thought, 'oh, let's do that, that would be a great one to try and get the world record'.
"It would be crazy really not to take the double and get the fastest half marathon."
Dan HudsonThe run was documented by a friend who ran alongside him, while photographs were taken at each mile to provide evidence of the attempt.
The result is now pending verification by Guinness World Records.
Hudson said his costume was made by a fellow comedian: "It kind of has to look like that to make the point really.
"Sometimes someone will be running next to you for like 20 seconds trying to get my attention and I'd be like, 'oh, hi, sorry. What do you want?'"
He said the aim was to complete the half marathon in under two hours and add another record to his name, despite the pain afterwards.
"[My legs] are always a bit sore after a race like that, but I'm kind of used to it, so I can't complain," he admitted.
