Officer's skull fractured as driver leaves scene
GoogleA police officer has been left with a fractured skull after being seriously injured while trying to stop a car in Nuneaton.
Warwickshire Police said an officer attempted to stop and speak to the occupants of a "suspicious" black BMW in Kingswood Road at about 15:00 BST on Sunday, when the driver drove off.
The officer, who was not identified, suffered a fractured skull and remained in hospital in a serious condition, the force said.
A man in his 20s from Nuneaton was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving on Monday and remains in police custody.
A woman in her 20s, also from Nuneaton, was detained on suspicion of possession of drugs with intent to supply and perverting the course of justice, the force added.
Police are continuing to make inquiries and have appealed for anyone with more information, or dashcam or doorbell footage, to get in contact.
