A man who brandished a cut-throat razor and threatened passengers on a Southeastern train bound for Dover Priory has been jailed for two years.

While travelling on 3 April, Hogr Saeed was observed becoming increasingly agitated before going on to produce the weapon and threatening to kill other passengers, Kent Police said.

Saeed was arrested at around 21:00 BST that day, charged with multiple offences, including threats to kill, possession of an offensive weapon, affray and criminal damage.

The 35-year-old, an Iraqi national of no fixed address, was sentenced at Canterbury Crown Court on Thursday.

The force said that following arrest a razor was seized alongside a pair of scissors, while Saeed also made threats to harm the officers while being detained.

Investigating officer, Det Con Nichola Shepherd, said: "This was a terrifying incident for the passengers and staff who found themselves trapped in a train carriage with Saeed.

"He caused genuine fear and distress which is likely to have a lasting impact on those involved."
