A man has been charged with murder following a fatal stabbing in Birmingham.

West Midlands Police said officers were called to Walford Road, Sparkbrook, at about 18:20 BST on Thursday and discovered an injured man who "died a short time later".

The force said the accused, who it named as 29-year-old Ahmad Alkozai from Birmingham, was arrested in Bristol on Friday.

He has been remanded in custody to appear at Walsall Magistrates' Court on Monday.

Three other men arrested as part of police inquiries were released on bail with conditions, said the force, which has not named the deceased.

The public has been asked not to share photos or footage linked to Thursday's events "to avoid causing more distress and potentially prejudicing legal proceedings".

Det Insp Matt Marston, who is leading the investigation, said: "Our thoughts remain with the victim's family – they are being kept updated and we continue to offer them our full support.

"It's vital that anyone who does have footage or information shares it with us directly."

Officers have set up a public portal for people to share relevant photos, videos and information.
