Chinook helicopter lands in field after bird strike

A military helicopter has made an emergency landing in a field after a bird strike during a routine training flight.

The Royal Air Force (RAF) said the Chinook helicopter, which had flown from RAF Odiham in Hampshire, landed in a field near the A4 in Pewsham, Wiltshire, earlier as a precautionary measure.

A spokesperson for the RAF said the crew on board were not injured and an engineering team from the helicopter's base had been dispatched to assess the damage to the aircraft.

"We would like to thank the landowners for their patience and assistance whilst we look to rectify the aircraft," the spokesperson said.
