Man charged with stabbing of hospital doctor
Getty ImagesA doctor is recovering after being stabbed multiple times while on a night shift at Hillingdon Hospital, west London.
The medic - a man in his 50s - was attacked in the early hours of Tuesday at the site on Pield Heath Road. He was treated by paramedics before being transferred to a major trauma centre.
Metropolitan Police officers - who were already at the site responding to a separate incident - arrested a man and have since charged him with causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
Mahdi Abdullahi, 27, of Pield Heath Road, Hillingdon, appeared before Uxbridge magistrates and was also charged with possessing an offensive weapon and stealing knives.
Abdullahi was remanded into custody and is due at the same court on Friday.
A Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust spokesperson said the trust "continued to support and reassure" its staff and any violence or aggression "was unacceptable".
