Couple who won home 60 years ago now win £142k
Postcode LotteryA couple who won their home 60 years ago have now scooped £142,857 in a lottery win.
Pamela and Anthony Hiscocks, 79 and 82, won their bungalow in a competition run by developers who built the estate in the 1960s and have now scooped £142,857.
The couple are among a group of neighbours in Melksham, Wiltshire, who have won a share of £1m in the lottery.
"We've been lucky in the past, but this is just amazing," said Pamela.
The Hiscocks said they want to share the money with their family, including putting something towards their granddaughter's wedding.
Pamela is turning 80 this year and her and Anthony have their 60th wedding anniversary in October.
"We can pay for everyone to have a once-in-a-lifetime holiday. I'd like a cruise," she said.
Others along the street have also have the same amount of money from the £1m, including Gary Walker, 57, who said he has known Pamela most of his life as she was his school dinner lady.
Also celebating are Former pub landlords and grandparents, Lesley, 77, and Philip, 79, who said the win brought them some good news despite Lesley having incurable cancer.
Postcode LotteryThe couple said they are considering making changes to their home with their winnings from the Postcode Lottery, or spending them on a holiday.
"It's the first bit of luck we've had for a long time. Doctors told me they can't cure me, but they can give me time," said Lesley.
"After everything, for this to happen is just fantastic."
She said she found out about her cancer when it showed up on a medical scan she had after an accident in her garden.
Lesley's cancer is now inactive after sessions of chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
"So far, they've given me time and that's all I can really ask for," she added.
Pamela said she was delighted for Lesley. "We're so close and such good friends. It's just nice that we can share it together," she said.
