Man snatched and raped girl in school uniform - court
West Yorkshire PoliceA schoolgirl who was raped by a stranger who snatched her from the street has told her attacker she hopes he "rots in prison".
Omarie Adams, from Armley in Leeds, was found guilty of four counts of rape, one count of assault by penetration and one count of sexual assault. The offences were all committed against the 13-year-old girl last September.
The 34-year-old was jailed for 20 years at Leeds Crown Court earlier and added to the Sex Offenders Register for life and made the subject of a restraining order against his victim.
In a victim impact statement, the girl said the incident had "affected my self-worth and my belief in myself".
The statement continued: "I have recurring thoughts that I am useless. This is because I believe the suspect saw me as some cheap tat on the road that he could do whatever he wanted with.
"This is something I think about a lot."
The court heard how Adams, of Second Avenue, drove the victim to multiple locations around Leeds, where he sexually abused her for a period of two hours.
During his trial he claimed he had not noticed she was wearing her school uniform jumper.
Later, the girl's "incredibly detailed and accurate description" helped to identify him, according to police. He also gave her his phone number, which officers managed to trace.
"I have supported this investigation because I want the suspect to be locked away so that he faces justice and knows he cannot get away with what he has done and won't go on to do this to someone else," the girl told the court.
"Omarie Adams has taken away my dignity. This is not something I will ever get back. I hope he rots in prison."
Det Const Ellie Middlemass, who investigated the case for West Yorkshire Police, praised the girl's "immense bravery, determination and resolve".
