The opening day of the Devon County Show was "tremendous", say organisers.

Lisa Moore, chief executive of the event hosted at Exeter's Westpoint showground, said there was a "really good" turnout and it had been a "really happy" day.

She said the team had been "privileged and honoured" to welcome the Duchess of Edinburgh to the show which she said the royal family member had "really enjoyed and got to see a lot of".

The agricultural show, which had a record-breaking 101,386 visitors last year, continues on Friday and Saturday.
