Lido cubicle door exhibition charts first 90 years
VivacityThe changing room doors of an outdoor swimming pool have been transformed into an exhibition celebrating its 90th anniversary.
The Grade II listed Peterborough Lido opened in 1936 and has survived several threats of closure and even a World War Two bombing raid in 1942.
Photographs of the pool in use over the 90 years have been used to transform all 55 cubicle doors.
Operator Vivacity, which runs the lido, said it wanted to "create something permanent that visitors could enjoy year after year".
VivacityAs well as photographs, swimmers have shared their memories and reviews of the pool, which has been described as one of the city's "crown jewels".
"The history of the lido is so important, you only have to read a few of the memories to appreciate just what it means to people – the overwhelming sentiment is how much people appreciate it," said the Vivacity team.
The display links to the Life at the Lido exhibition at the city's museum and the artwork was funded by car retailer Big Motoring World.
It was created by the Friends of Peterborough Lido, who have produced a commemorative book.
