A 19-year-old man has pleaded guilty to manslaughter after using his vehicle to ram another man's car off the road.

Mackenzie Ball, 20, died in June 2024 when his Land Rover Discovery was deliberately hit by a Subarau Forester driven by Owen Cocksedge near Rotherham.

On Monday, Cocksedge plead guilty to manslaughter and two counts of Section 20 assault at Sheffield Crown Court.

Following the hearing, Det Insp Matt Bolger said Mackenzie was a "young man who had his whole life ahead of him" and paid tribute to his family's "patience and dignity" throughout the investigation.

Emergency services were called to a two-vehicle collision on Morthen Road at the junction of Moat Lane on 2 June 2024 shortly after 16:00 BST.

South Yorkshire Police said when officers arrived all those involved had fled the scene, leaving Mackenzie critically injured in the Land Rover before he was later pronounced dead.

The force said Cocksedge was later arrested and charged after being identified as the driver of the Subaru.

Three other men, Kowen Pitts, 21, Adam Platts, 20, and Deacon Blake, 18, who have been charged in connection with Mackenzie's death are due to appear at Sheffield Crown Court on 8 June.

Cocksedge will be sentenced at a later date.
