A 60-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man was found dead at a property.

Thames Valley Police said it was called at 07:20 BST on Wednesday due to fears for the welfare of a man at an address on Wensley Road in Reading.

Officers found the body of a man in his 70s inside. The arrested man is from the town and remains in police custody.

Detective Inspector Jon Morely said: "We know that this news is likely to cause concern locally, however we do not believe there to be any ongoing risk to the wider community.

"We would be interested in obtaining any CCTV, doorbell or dash camera footage from the area which hasn't already been submitted to police."

He also urged anyone who was in the Wensley Road area between 14:30 BST on 11 August and 08:00 BST on 12 August and saw anything out of place to get in touch.
