Dealer caught with £50k of cannabis and gummies

A driver who was arrested after a crash was found to have a "substantial quantity" of cannabis gummy sweets packaged like popular treats, police have said.

Reuben Parker admitted possession with intent to supply drugs after Bedfordshire Police arrested the 23-year-old on the M1 between Toddington and Brogborough on 24 July, the force said.

Parker, of Vicarage Farm Road, Peterborough, was carrying almost £50,000 worth of cannabis and cannabis gummies.

"This was a substantial quantity of drugs that have been taken off the streets, and it serves as an important reminder to everyone of the dangers of cannabis edibles," said Det Con Emilia Tolomeo.

She added: "We are advising parents to be aware of what 'sweets' their children may have in their bedrooms and bags."

Parker, who was also charged with driving without insurance and on an invalid licence, is due to be sentenced in September.
