A man was arrested and a pedestrian was taken to hospital

A pedestrian has suffered injuries believed to be life-threatening after he was hit by a car outside Hastings railway station, police said.

The man was taken to hospital after the collision just before 16:15 BST on Wednesday.

British Transport Police said a man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, and remains in custody.

Officers have appealed for anyone who saw what happened or who has dashcam, CCTV or mobile phone footage to contact the force.
