A muck heap fire in a field near Stowmarket has caused disruption for people living nearby

Firefighters have tackled a 100-tonne muck heap blaze near the A14.

Crews were called to manure alight in a field on Haughley Road, Harleston, on the border between Norfolk and Suffolk, near Stowmarket, at 14:30 BST on Tuesday.

It was brought under control by 20:18 but, as it continues to burn, it was going to be reinspected by the fire service at 08:00 on Wednesday.

A large plume of smoke triggered warnings for people to be cautious on nearby roads and keep windows and doors closed.
