Pedestrians targeted with liquid from passing cars

Police are investigating reports of pedestrians having a liquid squirted at them from passing cars in Surrey over the past month.

The latest incident happened in College Road, Epsom, at about 20:00 BST on Thursday.

The jogger told police a car slowed alongside them while running and a passenger squirted liquid, believed to be water, into their face from a bottle.

The force added the person was not injured and the vehicle was described as a black Audi.

Surrey Police said this incident follows a series of similar incidents reported in Elmbridge.

The force said the most recent of these took place at about 10.40 BST on 17 July along Esher Road, near the Molesey Road roundabout.

A person reported a glass bottle containing liquid was thrown from a passing black SUV.

Police added two similar incidents were reported in Cobham on 6 May, in Leigh Corner at about 17:55 BST and in Tilt Road at about 19:50 BST.

Police said inquiries were ongoing and urged anyone with information to come forward.

Insp Chris Thoday said injuries had been reported and this behaviour was "completely unacceptable".
