Police investigate heating oil thefts in Aberdeenshire

Police investigating the theft of heating oil from two homes in Insch say there have been a number of similar incidents recently across Aberdeenshire.

The latest thefts happened in Commerce Street and are believed to have taken place in the early hours of Tuesday.

Police Scotland is appealing for witnesses to come forward, and want anyone with dash cam footage to get in touch.

They are asking local residents to securely lock their oil tanks and remain vigilant if they see any suspicious vehicles in the area.

And they say these crimes put a large financial strain on families, at a time when the price of fuel is affecting everyone.
