Murder probe launched after man fatally stabbed
GoogleA murder investigation has been launched after a man was fatally stabbed in Staffordshire.
Police were called to a crash involving a red Ford Fiesta and grey Audi on Orme Road, Newcastle-Under-Lyme, shortly after 17:00 BST on Friday.
The driver of the Fiesta, a man in his 20s, was found to have suffered injuries consistent with a stab wound, Staffordshire Police said, and he was taken to hospital, where he later died.
His next of kin have been informed and were being supported by specially trained officers, a force spokesperson added.
Det Insp Stephen Ward said: "We are working hard to understand more about what happened leading up to the driver of the vehicle losing his life.
"The investigation is still at a very early stage and we are in the process of carrying out forensic, CCTV and house-to-house enquiries to establish the circumstances."
He said it was believed to be an isolated incident but there would be increased patrols in the area to reassure residents.
