Woman in hospital and driver arrested after crash

A 21-year-old woman has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after she was hit by a car in Rotherham.

A 49-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of driving offences and remains in custody.

The woman was involved in a collision with a silver Volvo V50 while walking along Grayson Road in Rotherham at about 10:40 BST, according to police.

Grayson Road was closed for a short time while emergency services attended the scene.

Police urged anyone with information, CCTV or dashcam footage to get in touch.
