Leadership at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust has been rated good following an inspection by the health watchdog.

The trust, which provides acute and community-based services across Calderdale, Huddersfield and the surrounding areas, was inspected by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in March "in response to information of concern".

It was rated good in all eight of the areas in which it was assessed.

Chris Storton, the CQC's deputy director of operations in the north east, said: "Leaders and staff should be pleased with the positive findings in our reports, and we look forward to seeing their continued progress."

The trust was assessed in the areas of shared direction and culture, capable, compassionate and inclusive leaders, freedom to speak up, workforce equality diversity and inclusion, governance management and sustainability, partnerships and communities, learning improvement, innovation and environmental sustainability

Inspectors found leaders had "robust and realistic strategies for achieving priorities and addressing challenges", according to a CQC spokesperson.

In addition, leaders "ensured robust processes were in place to ensure staff remained fit and proper persons for their roles".

"The trust had mechanisms to identify and address behaviours that were inconsistent with the values of the NHS."

Storton added: "We will continue to monitor them, including through future inspections, to ensure the progress is embedded and sustained."
