A horse has been rescued from a riverbank in Shropshire thanks to the help of the fire service and a local farmer.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service said it was called to Halford in Craven Arms just before 20:00 BST on Monday.

It said the horse, Cody, was about 70% submerged in mud and water.

A vet sedated Cody while crews slid two rescue strops under him and he was lifted to safety by a JCB which was owned by a local farmer, the service added.
