Man hurt in crash which closes M6 carriageway
National HighwaysA man has been seriously injured in a crash which closed the M6 northbound in Staffordshire.
The carriageway was shut at about 09:40 BST between junction 14, for Stafford, and the Stoke-on-Trent turn-off at junction 15, National Highways said.
Emergency services were sent to the scene and the injured man taken to Royal Stoke University Hospital.
Motorists were facing delays of 30 minutes or more on the motorway northbound in the area, a highways spokesperson said. Vehicles trapped within the closure were being released and a diversion was in place.
Motorists were advised to leave the motorway at junction 14 and take the A34 northbound before heading on to the A500 westbound to rejoin the M6 at junction 15.
Paramedics were called shortly after 09:15 BST.
An ambulance, a paramedic officer and an air ambulance attended, West Midlands Ambulance Service said.
