Jersey Post said it had made changes informed by customer feedback

Jersey Post has announced a reduction in the cost of sending parcels off-island for the second consecutive year.

The company said the move reflected the continued shift towards sending higher volumes of parcels, rather than traditional mail.

However, the cost of sending local letters and letters to the UK will increase.

The changes come into effect on 6 January.

Price changes

  • Off-Island Parcels (2kg-20kg): Prices will be reduced by 10% for destinations including the UK, Europe, and the Rest of the World
  • Packets (Under 2kg): Customers will see price reductions of up to 5% for these off-island items
  • Local Letters: The price for a standard local letter will increase by 2.5% to 82p (up from 80p)

Other Local & UK Mail:

  • Local large letters will increase from £1.20 to £1.25
  • Local parcels will rise from £2.00 to £2.05
  • Standard UK letters will increase from £1.35 to £1.40

'Decline in letter volumes'

Jersey Post said the reduction in parcel prices was part of its wider strategy to adapt to changing consumer habits, where islanders were sending more parcels to friends and family, and fewer letters.

CEO Mark Siviter said the company had "thought carefully about our 2026 prices to ensure we prioritise affordability and continue to represent good value for our customers."

He added the decision followed customer feedback and was aimed at "continuing to support islanders".

Jersey Post said the increase in local letter prices was necessary to "help offset the continued decline in letter volumes" and ensure processing and delivery costs were covered. The increases on local large letters and parcels, as well as UK letters, were described as "inflation-based increases."
