Three men have been arrested after a fire at a derelict hotel on the Isle of Wight.

Firefighters from four stations across the island were sent to the fire after smoke was seen coming from the building on Tuesday at about 19:45 BST.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said the men aged, 56 from Shanklin, 45 from Sandown and 43 from Newport were all arrested nearby on suspicion of arson with intent to danger life and remain in custody.

The force said no one was believed to have been injured in the fire. The fire service said the fire was out shortly after 21:00.

Schools have recently been urged to tell pupils to stay out of the derelict hotel as it is at risk of collapse-risk after children were seen regularly entering the site.

The hotel has been hit by a string of fires in recent years, with the most recent being in October 2025.
