Murder arrest after woman in her 40s found dead
GoogleA man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman in her 40s was found dead.
Officers were called to an address on Tweedale Street, Rochdale, Greater Manchester at about 16:00 BST on Monday and the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
A man his 30s was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody for questioning, Greater Manchester Police said.
The force said it believed the incident was isolated and "posed no further risk to the wider public".
"We appreciate this incident is likely to cause some distress amongst the public and local community," said Ch Supt Jamie Daniels.
"I would like to reassure you that we believe this to be an isolated incident, which does not pose any further risk to the wider public.
"Our priority at this time is conducting formal identification of the victim and informing her family as soon as we can."
He added there would be an increased police presence in the area for the next few days.
