Police have made three more arrests after a shooting that left a man with a suspected gunshot wound.

Four men and a 16-year-old boy had already been arrested in connection with the incident on St Paul's Street, in the Gorse Hill area of Swindon, Wiltshire, just before 21:00 BST on Friday.

A man in his 30s was taken to hospital after Wiltshire Police responded to reports of a gunshot being fired.

He remains in a stable but critical condition.

The latest suspects are a 20-year-old man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, and a 19-year-old man and a 30-year-old man, both arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder.

They remain in police custody for questioning.

The other five, who were arrested on Saturday, have been released on bail pending further enquiries.

They include:

  • A 51-year-old arrested on suspicion of attempted murder
  • A 32-year-old arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder and being concerned in the supply of Class C drugs
  • A 19-year-old arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender
  • A 33-year-old and a 16-year-old arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and possession with intent to supply nitrous oxide for wrongful inhalation

Police said a cordon was still in place on Farnborough Road while investigation work took place.
