Plans submitted for 1,100 new homes near Scunthorpe

Plans have been submitted for a new village made up of more than 1,000 homes in North Lincolnshire.

Gleeson Homes has applied for full planning permission for 521 homes near Scunthorpe on land west of Scotter Road and north of Moor Road as part of the Trent Vale project.

The developer has also applied to North Lincolnshire Council for outline permission for a further 600 homes, a primary school, and a centre for shops, businesses and medical services.

Comments on the application can be made until 10 September.

The full planning application includes 98 two-bedroom, 284 three-bedroom and 139 four-bedroom homes on 65 hectares of agricultural land, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS).

The Trent Vale scheme includes six new villages between the River Trent and Scunthorpe.

Planning permission for the first village, Ashmere, was granted last month. It will comprise 593 homes and a commercial unit adjacent to the future Burringham Bypass. Construction of Ashmere is expected to begin later this summer.

The Trent Vale scheme was announced earlier this year, along with the six intended village names: Ashmere, Brumby Green, Burgess Croft, Burleigh Green, Southgate Hollow and Woldmere.

The LDRS understands a village name for the Gleeson proposal will be confirmed only if the scheme is approved, and it could be any of the names other than Ashmere.
