Paddling pool to reopen after delay

A padding pool which underwent a half a million pound renovation more than a year ago will reopen for its second summer season, after being closed since last year.

Work to the Maple Leaf Paddling Pool in Sutton on Sea finished in May 2025, but the site was closed the following month because of a leak. It was then open from July 2025 until the end of September, but has remained closed since due to extra repairs being needed.

East Lindsey District Council confirmed the pool would reopen at 10:00 BST on Saturday 8 August.

A spokesperson said the council acknowledged residents had been disappointed by the closure and thanked them for their patience.

The pool was supposed to reopen at its usual time ahead of the summer in May, but in March the council said it could not because a new pool tank needed to be installed.

In an update on social media this week, the council confirmed the tank has been fitted.

It said: "We're delighted that the pool will now be available for everyone to enjoy throughout the rest of the season, remaining open daily through to the usual closing time around the end of September."

A total of £524,000 was spent renovating the pool, as part of a wider £7.5m development of Sutton On Sea's beachfront area in 2025.
