Arrest after man seriously injured in crash
PA MediaA man has been arrested after a driver was seriously injured in a crash in North Yorkshire.
The collision took place on the A6055 near Pickhill at about 10:40 BST and involved a grey Audi Q2, a red Land Rover Discovery and a silver Ford Fiesta, all of which were travelling south.
The driver of the Audi, a man in his 70s, was taken to hospital by air ambulance with serious injuries and two other casualties from the Fiesta and Audi were taken to hospital with minor injuries.
The driver of the Land Rover, a 22-year-old man, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving.
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said the force was appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or saw the vehicles involved before the crash to get in touch.
"In particular, we believe that the occupants of a vehicle which was travelling north may have witnessed the collision and stopped at the scene, but left prior to police arriving," they said.
"This vehicle is not believed to have caused or contributed to the collision in any way, and the occupants may have important information which could help our inquiries."
