A banned driver has admitted killing a woman in a crash on the A1.

Jade Duncan, 41 and from Dundee, was a passenger in Sean Hogan's Peugeot 407 when he crashed near Berwick in Northumberland on 28 January.

Hogan, 46, admitted causing death by dangerous driving when he appeared at Newcastle Crown Court on Wednesday.

He was remanded into custody to be sentenced on 8 June, with Judge Robert Adams warning him a jail term would be "inevitable".

Hogan, of Brighton Road, Gateshead, also admitted causing death by driving while disqualified and without insurance.
