Fifty-thousand attendees have turned up for a weekend of music, dancing and fun across seven stages at Love Saves The Day festival.

The Bristol event, held at Ashton Court, features local and international artists – this year's headliners include rapper Eve, Sammy Virji and Rizzle Kicks.

As temperatures hit 27C, organisers handed out sun lotion and water.

The sun has been a welcome source of energy with the main stage being naturally powered for the first time.

Festival director Tom Paine said use of solar power was "more reliable and more responsible... we're loving it".

Festivalgoers appear unfazed by the blazing sunshine. Director Tom Paine said security had been charged with making sure attendees did not overheat.

Artist Addie P, who lives in Easton, Bristol, said it was "sick" to be able to perform in the city she lives in, 10 years after she first attended the festival.

"It's a crazy experience, not a lot of artists get an opportunity like this... especially to represent the underground music scene," she said.

Addie said she would be "drinking a lot of water" and finding shade in the heat before and after her performance on Sunday.

The line-up for the festival included headliner Nicolaas Douwe Douwma, better known by his stage name Sub Focus. The English DJ took to the stage on Saturday night.

Gates opened at 12:00 BST on both days of the festival and the last entry is at 20:00.

Buses run from 11:00 until midnight, or until everyone is off site.

There are road closures in place for e-bikes and e-scooters, and speed restrictions on Clanage Road and Kennel Lodge Road.
