Prison tutor sent X-rated pictures to inmate

A prison tutor who sent sexually explicit pictures of herself to an inmate has admitted misconduct in a public office.

Police investigated Oksana Antanaitiene after she was found locked in a room with the prisoner at HMP Chelmsford in August 2025.

The 51-year-old maths tutor, from Grays, also smuggled music and TV files to the man via a USB drive, Essex Police said.

She admitted the charge at Chelmsford Crown Court on Tuesday and was bailed. Sentencing will take place there on 28 October.

Essex Police said Antanaitiene communicated sexually with the man by letter and phone.

During a search of the inmate's cell, officers found the USB device in a dressing gown and the explicit images.

Antanaitiene, whom police said had undergone corruption training, admitted the inappropriate relationship to her bosses a day later.

DC Matthew Parker, of Essex Police's prison investigations team, said Antanaitiene betrayed the trust put in her.

"She chose to enter into an inappropriate relationship with a serving prisoner and continued that relationship through repeated contact and the sharing of prohibited items and explicit material," Parker said.

"Her actions undermined the integrity of the prison system and had the potential to compromise the safety and security of the establishment."
