An 18-year-old cyclist has been seriously injured after a hit-and-run incident in Dundee.

The collision happened at about 00:55 on Old Hawkhill at the mini roundabout on the junction of Hunter Street and Small's Wynd in the west end of the city.

The driver of a red Range Rover Evoque did not stop and the vehicle was later found on fire about a mile away at the entrance of Victoria Park.

The blaze was extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and is being treated as wilful.

The road was closed for four hours as a result of the incident.

Sgt John MacDiarmid said: "Our enquiries are ongoing to trace the driver of the vehicle who failed to stop and to establish the full circumstances.

"We are asking anyone in the area at the time to get in touch if they have information that could assist with our investigation, particularly relating to the Range Rover before and after the crash."
