Major sea angling competition returns
East Riding of Yorkshire CouncilEast Yorkshire is to host a European sea angling competition.
Competitors will take to the coast next March for the Paul Roggeman European Open Beach Championship.
Tickets for the three-day event have gone on sale, with juniors being allowed to compete for overall championship for the first time.
East Riding councillor Nick Coultish said the event would "play a key role in supporting local economies in early 2027".
"We are proud to host this prestigious angling competition on our beautiful coastline," he said.
"And we look forward to welcoming visitors from across the UK and Europe to our region."
Founded in 1994, the annual event attracts hundreds of anglers from across the UK and overseas and runs along the North Sea coast from Bridlington to Spurn Point.
Cash prizes are awarded for landing the heaviest fish.
The event will also feature advice sessions and stalls selling fishing equipment.
It runs from 5 - 7 March.
