Cyclist, 66, seriously injured in crash with car

A 66-year-old cyclist is in a critical condition after he was hit by a car in Wakefield, police have said.

The cyclist was struck by an Omoda 5 SUV on Denby Dale Road, near the junction with Thornes Road, at about 22:05 BST on Wednesday.

West Yorkshire Police said he was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The driver remained at the scene and was spoken to by officers, but anyone with information is being asked to contact police.
