U-turn on closure of Next store in capital

The only branch of Next on the Isle of Man is to remain open after an agreement was reached between the retailer and the building's owners.

Plans close the store, which has been on the capital's main shopping street for 25 years, with the loss of 23 jobs were confirmed by the retailer in May.

At the time, building owners Kelproperties said Next had sought a reduction in rental payments that was "considerably less than the previous rental agreement".

However, both the landlord and the retailer said terms had now been agreed- subject to contract – which would see the Strand Street store remain open.
