Long queues have been forming on the A27 in East Sussex after a crash involving a car and a pedestrian.

The road has been closed in both directions near the Dyke Road roundabouts in Hove, according to Sussex Police.

Queues reached three miles but National Highways South East said on Saturday evening the delay was down to 20 minutes and two miles of congestion.

The west entry slip from the A23 at Patcham was also closed, the agency reported.

A police spokesperson said: "Emergency services are at the scene and the road is expected to be closed for some time while we work to understand the full circumstances."

They added: "Motorists are asked to find alternative routes and we are grateful for your patience while this is ongoing."
