New family hub plans to improve access to support
West Northamptonshire CouncilA new hub at a town's library will "make it easier for families to access the support they need", a council has said.
West Northamptonshire Council said the Central Library in Northampton would host a best-start family hub following a refurbishment of the venue from this autumn, though no date for its opening has been confirmed.
The Reform UK-controlled council said it would "bring key services together under one roof".
Councillor Michael Stratton said it would provide "a central and welcoming location" for facilities including health clinic rooms, a wet play area, and quiet and sensory spaces.
The council said the family hub would be available to families with babies, children and young people, aged 0-19, or up to 25 years old if there is a special education need or disability.
The design draws inspiration from the Towcester family hub and will be located on the ground floor of Central Library, alongside the Children's Library.
Stratton, who is the cabinet member for children, families, and education, said: "Our best start in life plan is about early support, prevention and joined-up services, and this hub will play an important role in delivering that for families in Northampton."
The council said the refurbishment would "create a welcoming, accessible space designed around the needs of families, bringing key services together in one easy-to-find town centre location."
