Two women have been arrested on suspicion of murder after the body of a man was found at a former restaurant in Sheffield.

The 55-year-old's body was found inside the TGI Fridays building in Sheffield Road on Wednesday evening, South Yorkshire Police said.

Officers made the discovery when responding to reports of suspicious activity at the site, and said the two suspects, aged 35 and 54, had been arrested on Thursday.

Det Ch Insp Laura Procter said the man had yet to be formally identified but his family was aware and being supported by the force.

Appealing for witnesses, she added: "Officers have been conducting various enquiries since the man's body was sadly found, with the aim of building up a full picture of the circumstances which led up to this incident."

This restaurant only closed a few months ago, and you can still see the menu cards on the tables inside.

There is still a large police presence here on Friday night, with officers entering the rear of the former TGI Fridays through a door appearing to lead to the kitchen area.

This is a busy location close to Meadowhall shopping centre and overlooked by a Premier Inn hotel.

Detectives are asking people who may have been staying, shopping or passing through the area to come forward if they may have seen anything suspicious nearby.
